Ekamra Kanan, which draws morning walkers and visitors, has a jumbo problem to handle. With a female elephant managing to enter its premises from the Bharatpur side, a portion of the main walking track has been blocked.

The she-elephant made its way through the barbed-wire perimeter since the electrified fencing was not charged. It got inside and stayed put. When the Regional Plant Resource Centre authorities sighted the jumbo, they put up a “No Entry” signboard to prevent walkers and visitors beyond a certain point.

The jumbo was in a small group of three - two females and a calf. One of them entered the premises. Once the solar fencing was charged, the jumbo has not been sighted but on the other side of the perimeter too, it has not been detected with the group.

“If we see it inside RPRC, we will drive it away and charge the fencing again to prevent its entry,” said an official of Chandaka-Dampara Wildlife Sanctuary.
