Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who was on a visit to Keonjhar to take part in a public meeting organised to mark the Santhali Day on Sunday, said Odisha Government should sanction a special financial package for the under-developed and tribal dominated districts like Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh to eradicate poverty and discrimination.

Addressing the gathering at Dharanidhar College ground here, Soren said the Santhals suffer the most in different parts of Odisha due to lack of awareness and appealed to the State Government to set up separate medical colleges in Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts so that the poor can have access to better health services.

He also said the Centre should lay emphasis on train connectivity to these areas along with ensuring irrigation facilities.
