Taking a plunge into the world of modelling and proving her mettle there too, Odia actor Archita Sahu has notched the first runners up title at the recently concluded Femina Miss India (East).

For an established actor, choosing to participate in such a pageant at this stage of the career must not have been easy. So was she scared? ‘’Well, to be honest, when I decided to apply for it, I wasn’t a wee bit serious. In fact, unlike many girls of my age, I never even had a childhood dream to be a model or an actress. Acting happened as an experiment. Even this is no different. I just saw the ad in the paper and felt like giving it a shot. It was more like let me try something new,’’ the vivacious actress confesses. ‘’It was only when I got into Top 10, I knew something different was seriously happening,’’ she adds on.

Talking about her experience there, the bubbly  actor says it was something she would cherish for all times to come. ‘’I enjoyed each and every moment. We went through five days of gruelling sessions of training and let me tell you, beauty pageants aren’t just about looks and walk. The experts out there go deeper. We had several contests during those five days where we were quizzed on current affairs and general knowledge. We had written tests as well,’’ informs Archita who also won the title for Eyeconic Eyes.

‘’Even such titles aren’t given on the basis of the look part of it. They weigh how you answer their bouncers,’’ quips Archita. ‘’When asked about my eyes, I had said my eyes speak about my confidence, they reflect the real me,’’ the young actress smiles as she explains.

On being asked about what the actress is planning next, she says, ‘’Presently, I am trying my best for the MBA exams. Third semesters are on. I have literally jumped from one exam to another! But, yes, now I am very serious about this and want to give my best shot at the Femina Miss India finals to be held shortly in Mumbai.’’
