Government increases Mo Kudia house cost

The State Government has increased the unit cost of Mo Kudia houses has been increased in integrated action plan (IAP) and non-IAP districts.

As per the decision approved by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday,  cost of each unit has been increased to Rs 75,000 from Rs 48,500 in IAP districts and to Rs 70,000 from Rs 45,000 in non-IAP districts.  New cost will be effective from April, 2013.

The State Government had launched the Mo Kudia scheme from its own resources to provide houses to homeless BPL families in the State. Chief Minister also reviewed implementation of Madhubabu Pension Yojana and rice at ` 1 per kg schemes through video conference. He directed the district Collectors to ensure that beneficiaries are provided subsidised rice on the scheduled dates. He asked them to monitor implementation of the rice scheme regularly.

He asked the Collectors to ensure that all the disabled persons who have been registered get the rice by producing disability persons cards. Though more than one lakh disabled persons have been registered under the scheme, 83,000 are availing benefit. Minister for Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Pratap Keshari Deb, Chief Secretary Bijay Kumar Patnaik and senior officials were present.
