Mother committees to assess food at Anganwadi

The State Government has decided to set up monitoring and mother committees to assess the food given by the anganwadi centres with more knowledge on nutrition.

Official sources said that the State Government has asked the Women and Child Development Department to plan for the training of members of the monitoring and mothers committees at block level.

The Department has been advised to develop a comprehensive plan for communication on nutrition in consultation with experts from State Institute of Health and draw up a year long calendar of communication activities.

Besides, the Department has been advised to undertake the training programmes for Self Help Groups (SHGs) engaged in THR ( Take Home Ration)  production and the ICDS supervisors about how to maintain the nutrition level in THR.

The Department has also been asked to plan out details for giving the mothers information on child health, feeding and sanitation information along with a model baby kit in hospital. 

Reviewing Pre-school and early child hood education activities in ICDS centres, the State Government has advised the  Department to develop a best model for children with inputs from experts and activist operating in the filed of early childhood education.
