Anti-Posco villagers to renew stir

Express News Service

Nearly 250 villagers of Gobindapur under the aegis of Posco Pratirodh Sangram Samiti (PPSS) have decided to oppose land acquisition for Posco’s proposed steel project.

On Sunday, they held a meeting at Patanahat where they alleged that the administration has been acquiring land from villagers by threatening them.

Assistant secretary of PPSS Prakash Jena said they would protest land acquisition for the proposed steel project as the State Government’s MoU with Posco is yet to be renewed.

Also a case related to the environmental clearance to the project has been pending with the National Green Tribunal, he added.

ADM Surjit Das said the agitation by PPSS activists will not have any impact on land acquisition.
