Ex-minister Biswal Dead

BHUBANESWAR: Former minister Brahmananda Biswal passed away at his Jharpada residence here on Saturday. He was 81 and was ailing for past few weeks.

Biswal, a three-time MLA from Kamakhyanagar constituency, was elected to Odisha Assembly for the first time on a Congress ticket in 1971.

He was a minister in the Nandini Satpathy government. The last time he won an Assembly election was on a BJD ticket in 2000.

His last rites were performed at Swargadwara in Puri.
