BMC to Complete Desiltation of Drains by May 30

Express News Service

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to complete desilting of more than 400 drains under its jurisdiction by May 30.

A meeting chaired by BMC Additional Commissioner KP Pati here on Thursday decided that desilting of the drains will begin in a week’s time. The Corporation has more than 400 small and big drains under it. Delay in timely desilting of the drains leads to water logging in most of the low lying areas of the city during monsoon every year.  After the first deadline, an interim meeting will be held on June 1 to gauge the progress of desilting. If the drains are not desilted by then, another deadline for June 30 would be set for completion of the work.
