7 of Family Injured in LPG Blast

BALANGIR:Seven persons of a family, including four children, received serious burn injuries when an LPG cylinder exploded in the house of Janardhan Negi (62) at Laxminagar Para in Balangir town on Friday.

The injured are Negi’s wife Shanti (60), daughter Rajani (30), son-in-law Abhimanyu Patra (40) and grandchildren Sanju (10), Raju (9), Arun (6) and three-year-old Karuna.

Sources said, the mishap occurred when Rajani was preparing breakfast. All the children were sitting in the kitchen when the cylinder exploded, resulting in serious injuries to them. Janardhan was not at home when the incident took place. The injured were first rushed to District Headquarters Hospital and later, Sanju, Raju, Arun and Karuna were shifted to VSS Medical College and Hospital, Burla as their condition deteriorated.

Balangir Town IIC Prashant Pattnaik said the family availed the LPG connection a couple of weeks back.
