BHUBANESWAR: The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has issued show cause notices to more than 50 beneficiaries under discretionary quota (DQ) who had availed either a plot or a house from State Government agencies.

“Notices have been issued to more than 50 beneficiaries and this will be an ongoing process to cover all those who have been identified by the Task Force on DQ,”  BDA Vice-Chairman Krishan Kumar said.

The DQ allottees have been given 30 days time to explain as to why their allotments will not be cancelled. They will be given opportunity to appear in person and justify their case, Kumar said.

“The same procedure will be followed by Odisha State Housing Board (OSHB), Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) and the General Administration Department as per the modalities fixed by the State Government,” Housing and Urban Development Secretary G Mathivathanan told this paper.

On December 19, 2014, the State Cabinet approved recommendation of the Task Force for cancellation of allotment of over 6,000 plots, flats and houses including 1,791 under DQ since January 1, 1995.

Meanwhile, the State Vigilance has taken files from BDA, CDA, OSHB and the GA Department as part of its investigation into multiple allotments of plots and houses under discretionary quota.

The anti-corruption wing of the State Government has been assigned the task of probing into double or more allotments under the DQ since January 1, 1995.

The Vigilance is looking into false affidavits submitted by allottees for availing multiple property, sources said.
