Jadunath Sahitya Samman for Sitakant

BHUBANESWAR: Eminent writer Sitakant Mohapatra was honoured with Jadunath Das Mohapatra Sahitya Samman 2016 on 88th birth anniversary of the famous poet, playwright and former minister here on Tuesday.

On the occasion, awards were also given to renowned litterateurs late Sourindra Barik, Kartik Chandra Rath and Birendra Kumar Samantray for their significant contributions to the field of poetry, drama and children’s literature respectively.

The awards, instituted by Jadunath Das Mohapatra Foundation, were given away in presence of the octogenarian Jadunath Das Mohapatra himself, poet Ramakant Rath and acclaimed Odia actor and director Prasanta Nanda. President of the Foundation Dilip Srichandan presided over the function while poet Sasmita Sarangi anchored it. The award ceremony was followed by recitation of famous poems of Jadunath Das Mohapatra by Prasanna Kumar Mohanty, Ajay Swain, Bhagyalipi Malla and Sasmita Sarangi.
