SAMBALPUR: The MBBS students of VSS Institute of Medial Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla, on Friday staged a protest in front of office of Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Sambalpur University here demanding authorities to conduct special examination for two students, who could not appear the final examination this year.

The two students, who were debarred from appearing the examination are Dinesh Sahoo and Manisha Prasad.

They had failed in Microbiology paper in both annual and supplementary MBBS-II examinations.

Subsequently, they appeared the MBBS-II examination with the junior batch and cleared the paper.

However, as the annual Part-1 examination of MBBS-III was going on at that time, they did not appear it.

Later, they appeared the supplementary of the Part-1 examination of MBBS-III.

Both the students were not allowed to appear the Part-2 examination of MBBS-III, which is final examination for the MBBS students, as their result of Part-1 supplementary examination was awaited. The Part-2 examination was held in April this year.

Later, a petition was filed in the Orissa High Court which directed the university to allow the students to appear Part-2 supplementary examination of MBBS-III on August 23.

However, despite the court order, the university did not allow the students to appear Part-2 supplementary examination on August 25, said Dinesh Sahoo.

The impasse was over after intervention of VC CR Tripathy, who said a meeting will be convened in presence of Principal of VIMSAR on November 1 to resolve the issue.
