Role of eco-clubs in monitoring health stressed

Health and Family Welfare Minister Pratap Jena suggested that eco-clubs functioning across the State should monitor health education with the cooperation of medical professionals.

BHUBANESWAR: Health and Family Welfare Minister Pratap Jena suggested that eco-clubs functioning across the State should monitor health education with the cooperation of medical professionals.Addressing a State-level seminar on ‘Health and Environment’ organised by Centre For Environmental Studies (CES) and State ENVIS HUB of Forest and Environment Department, he emphasised on the need for a healthy environment for a healthy life. Jean besides urging to undertake adequate step for mass plantation on road sides after laying of roads , suggested people to lead a natural and normal life style. 

Director of CES and State Coordinator of ENVIS Prof Ashutosh Debata said climate forcing seems to be more susceptible than erratic climate changing which will have adverse impact on public health. He stressed upon propping up psychosomatic diseases due to global warming and suggested that environmentalist and medical professionals should work jointly to sensitize people for a sustainable impact on the society.

Speaking on the occasion, Member Secretary of State Pollution Control Board Debidutta Biswal described about invasive and un-abating plastic waste pollution having environmental risks in natural system. Among others, Chairman of Hi-Tech Group of Institution Tirupati Panigrahi, Director of Utkal University Prof SK Tripathi and Director of Student Welfare, Utkal University Chinmaya Pradhan also spoke.
