BHUBANESWAR: The Department of Higher Education on Tuesday released the first cutoff list for admissions to various courses in Plus III colleges across the State for the 2018-19 academic session. Like previous years, BJB Autonomous College posted the highest cut-off in most of the honours subjects in all the four streams of Arts, Commerce, Physical Science and Biological Science.It topped in Economics, English, Political Science and Sociology subjects in Arts; Physics, chemistry and statistics in Physical Science and Botany in Biological Science.
In Commerce stream the cut-off stood at 84.17 per cent while for Geography in Arts stream it was 89.8 per cent. In Physical Science and Biological Science for mathematics and Zoology the cut-off stood at 92.17 per cent. It also posted highest cut-off marks for self finance courses such as Computer Science and Biotechnology.
“The first phase admission as per the merit list will begin from July 4 and continue till July 7,” said admission-in-charge of Higher Education Department, Mihir Kumar Das. Das informed that of the 2.21 lakh students who had applied online, 1.88 lakh students have been selected for admission. While 1.14 lakh students will take admission in Arts stream, 19,753 students will join Commerce and close to 50,000 students are expected to take admission to Physical Science and Biological Science subjects.
Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) has advised students to visit its official websites- www.dheodisha.gov.in and www.samsodisha.gov.in for more information on the cut-off list and admissions.Meanwhile, the students have been sent their intimation letters through messages, while they can download it from the official SAMS website, the DHE officials said. The second phase merit list will be released on July 11 for which the admission will start on July 12.
