BHAWANIPATNA: Heavy rains for the last 24 hours disrupted normal life in Bhawanipatna.  Sources said the shortcomings of the municipality were exposed in most areas of the town where drains remained clogged with garbage dumped on the road-side.

Sources said 12 out of 20 wards in the town have been affected due to the rains. The worst affected  areas are Ramnagar Pada, Karanpita, Dhobapada, Ramsagar Pada, Jorepada, Pardesipada, Mandarbagicha Pada, Kondhpada and Madanmohan Pada.

The town’s bus stand is flooded and water has entered the famous Balaji temple, sources said. Locals alleged that little has been done to clear the clogged drains across the town.
