ANGUL: Chhendipada police on Wednesday detained two youths for raping a 19-yearold girl and later making the video of the incident viral on social media. The two, identified as Pintu Behera and Laxman Behera, were detained following a complaint lodged by the victim on Tuesday. According to police, on June 5 the girl had gone to Tikira rivulet and finding her alone, the two raped her.

They also recorded the act and later released the video on social media. The two also threatened her not to disclose the incident to anyone. She, however, informed her father, who asked her not to reveal it to anyone. Taking the plea of the video, Pintu started forcing her into having physical relationship with him repeatedly. Two days back, when Pintu again tried to blackmail her by showing the video, she managed to snatch the gadget from him leading to a fight between them. Pintu allegedly tried to throttle her when the girl’s father came to her rescue.

The girl lodged a complaint after Pintu threatened to kill her father. She also charged them with shooting a video of the rape. Inspector-in-charge of Chhendipada police station Nirmala Gochhayat said the two accused were detained soon after the complaint was filed. They will be forwarded to court, he added.
