Rs 1,311 crore cyclone Titli relief released so far in Odisha

SRC officials said a total 128 blocks in 17 districts have been affected by the cyclone and floods.

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Government on Friday said it has released Rs 1,311.40 crore from the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) so far for relief and restoration works in districts affected by cyclone Titli and the resultant floods.Office of Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi said an amount of Rs 288.67 crore has been released for worst affected Gajapati, Ganjam and Rayagada districts towards gratuitous relief to flood-hit people. 

SRC officials said a total 128 blocks in 17 districts have been affected by the cyclone and floods. A total of 77 death cases have been reported so far of which 61 have been confirmed. Medical relief centres are still functioning in Ganjam and Gajapati. As many as 28 mobile teams have been deployed in Ganjam, Gajapati and Rayagada.

Normal Water Supply has been restored in all the 89 affected ULBs in Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Puri, Cuttack and Rayagda districts. Around 26 water tankers have been engaged in rural areas of Ganjam and Gajapati.

With over 7.60 lakh livestock affected by the calamity, 13 rapid response teams in Gajapati, 22 in Ganjam, 12 in Kandhamal and three each in Rayagada, Cuttak and Puri have been made functional to provide necessary veterinary services. Besides, 47 mobile veterinary units have been mobilised to organise camps.
The SRC office said road communication has been restored in most of the affected areas while 80 teams are engaged in Gajapati for restoration of electricity.
