Eight hurt as bus carrying migrants from Kerala to Bengal hit by truck in Odisha

The accident took place a day after another bus from Kerala carrying migrants to West Bengal overturned near here on Saturday, leaving seven persons injured.

BALASORE:  As many as eight migrant workers of West Bengal sustained minor injuries after the bus carrying them was hit by a speeding truck at Dandika within Basta police limits here on Sunday.

The mishap took place at around 6 am. Basta IIC Manas Kumar Deo said a private bus with 28 migrant workers, who were stranded at Ernakulam in Kerala due to lockdown, was on its way to Murshidabad in West Bengal. When the vehicle was trying to overtake another at Dandika, around 62 km from Balasore town, a truck coming from the opposite side hit it. 

On being informed, police rushed to spot and sent the injured passengers to Basta community health centre. The district administration served dry food and water to other migrant workers. The injured workers were later discharged and all of them were sent to Laxmannath border check gate in a bus. 
On Saturday, seven migrant workers of the neighbouring State were injured after their bus fell into a 16 feet deep gorge. near Nuagaon-Mangalpur village within Balasore Industrial police limits.
