50,000 houses to be distributed on September 17: Minister Rabi Narayan Naik

The minister said this initiative will be part of the larger housing scheme under the Antyodaya Gruha Yojana.

BHUBANESWAR: Panchayati Raj and Rural Development minister Rabi Narayan Naik on Thursday announced that the state government will distribute work orders for 50,000 houses among eligible beneficiaries under the Antyodaya Gruha Yojana on PM Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17.

The minister said this initiative will be part of the larger housing scheme under the Antyodaya Gruha Yojana. The state government has already included one lakh beneficiaries under the scheme. “This initiative aims to benefit beneficiaries including those who are differently-abled, widows and people suffering from various ailments. Besides, families of martyrs and recipients of the Padma Shri award will also benefit from this scheme,” he added.

Naik said the government will also start issuing work orders for houses under the PMGAY from November. Nearly 35 lakh people have applied during the recent PM Awas survey conducted in the state. “Process of house distrubution will officially begin in November,” he added.
