BHUBANESWAR: Ex-regular students in higher secondary schools will now be required to appear for internal exams to sit for the Annual Higher Secondary Examination (AHSE).
The ex-regular candidates will also have to follow the new AHSE syllabus, except those who were registered in 2023 and first took the exam within 2025 with the old syllabus.
The new measures have been introduced as part of revised assessment framework for ex-regular students in higher secondary schools affiliated to Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), officials from the Council said on Saturday.
Controller of examinations (CoE) Prasanta Kumar Parida said ex-regular students were earlier appearing for 100 marks in the exam. “However, with syllabus being revised and the evaluation pattern being changed to 80 marks for theory and 20 marks for internal or 70 marks for theory and 30 marks for practical, the ex-regular students are required to sit for internal exams and clear it before appearing for the AHSE from 2027 onwards,” he said.
Parida, however, said under the new rule, the marks secured by a candidate in the internal examination will remain valid for three years. The internal exams will take place in December and January, he said.
