BHUBANESWAR: The state BJP on Thursday slammed the Oppostion for using the NEET question paper leak as a political tool to create unrest rather than addressing students’ concerns.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP state headquarters, Law minister Prithiviraj Harichandan said the Centre had acted swiftly after the question paper leak by cancelling the examination, ordering a CBI probe, arresting the accused and conducting a fresh test. He claimed the re-examination was completed smoothly and the admission process was nearing completion.
“This is not a students’ movement but an attempt to create anarchy in the country,” Harichandan said urging students not to be misled by politically motivated protests and instead focus on their academic careers.
The minister accused the Congress, Aam Aadmi Party and Left parties of exploiting students’ grievances for political gains. He also alleged that anti-national elements had infiltrated the protests and claimed that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was avoiding a parliamentary debate on the issue while attempting to politicise it.
The minister also criticised former chief minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik for questioning the Centre over the paper leak controversy. He alleged that several examination paper leaks had occurred during the previous BJD government in the state, including the constable recruitment test, OTET, matriculation and assistant section officer (ASO) examinations and claimed that no effective action had been taken then.
