Four held for assault, obstructing police in Odisha's Berhampur

When police reached the spot, some residents allegedly obstructed the personnel, threatened them and pelted stones at their vehicle.

BERHAMPUR: Four persons were arrested on Friday for allegedly assaulting a man and obstructing police from discharging their duties at Kukudakhandi Bauri Sahi in Berhampur on September 14.

The accused are Sisir Das (43), Tapas Das (19), Rahul Das (18) and Deepak Das (18), all residents of Bauri Sahi.

According to police, a group of around 10 people arrived at Bauri Sahi on motorcycles around 4 pm on September 14 and allegedly hurled two bombs. However, residents managed to apprehend two of them. While one was allegedly assaulted brutally by the crowd, the other was kept confined in the local community hall.

When police reached the spot, some residents allegedly obstructed the personnel, threatened them and pelted stones at their vehicle.

Subsequently, senior officers accompanied by additional police force reached the spot, rescued the injured person assaulted by the mob and shifted him to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
