Odisha woman killed by husband over infidelity suspicion

Police said Seyad Samsad Ali took his wife to a secluded spot, stabbed her multiple times and then hit her head with a stone.

SAMBALPUR: Police on Sunday arrested a 45-year-old man for allegedly killing his wife on suspicion of infidelity near Sen Park under Town police limits.

The deceased was identified as Hina Begum (40) while the accused is Seyad Samsad Ali (45), a resident of Kumbharpada.

According to police, Ali suspected his wife of having an extramarital affair with another person. On Saturday night, the accused took Hina to a secluded spot near Sen Park on the pretext of walking. Ali reportedly picked up an argument with his wife over the same issue.

The altercation turned ugly as the accused allegedly stabbed her multiple times with a sharp weapon, causing injuries to her head, hands and other parts of the body. The accused then bludgeoned her head with a heavy stone, resulting in her death, said police. Subsequently, Ali returned home and reportedly disclosed his crime before independent witnesses.

Additional SP Ajay Mishra said the accused took his wife to the secluded spot with an intention to kill her as he was suspecting her of having an extramarital affair for quite some time. On Sunday morning, a scientific team visited the crime scene for investigation. Police have seized the weapon used in the crime. The accused was arrested and produced in court.
