CHENNAI: Communist Party of India (CPI) state general secretary D Pandian said his party has a very clear policy on the LTTE and has not deviated from it at any point of time.
Talking to reporters after meeting the CPM leaders here on Friday Pandian said, he had taken note of the criticism by Congress leaders after his inauguration of a fast by the MDMK on the Sri Lankan Tamil issue.
“Nowhere I have mentioned about the LTTE in the speeches. Our concern is only about the suffering ethnic Sri Lankan Tamils,” he said about TNCC chief Thangkabalu’s demand that the CPI should clear the air on its policy on the Lankan Tamils issue.
Pandian and senior party leader Nallakannu met top state CPI (M) leaders N Varadarajan and Ramakrishnan here on Friday. “It was an informal meeting. We informed the CPM about our meeting with the AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa recently,” Pandian told reporters.
Asked the leaders discussed the alliance issue, he said both the left parties will have their politburo meetings later this month. The Left parties, he said, would go together in the alliance issue in the state. On CPM support to the bandh call by the CPI on November 25, he said “those who are willing will support.”
