CHENNAI: Popular Tamil poet and lyricist Vaali’s wife Ramana Thilagam died following a heart attack on Monday.

Thilagam was 65 years old and had been unwell for sometime.

A yesteryear actress herself, Thilagam has been part of many films in supporting roles, and is well remembered for dancing along with Nagesh in Server Sundaram for the song, Avalukku Enna.

Ramani breathed her last at about 7.30 am on Monday at her Karpakam Avenue residence. She is survived by son Balaji, apart from her national award winning writer-husband. Her body, for which Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi, Rajathi Ammal and director-producer Rama Narayan, president, Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council, paid respects for, will be cremated in the Besant Nagar crematorium on Tuesday morning.
