CHENNAI: Chief Minister M Karunanidhi led the DMK cadre in paying homage to former Union Minister Murasoli Maran, who was hailed as his conscience, on his 76th birthday on Tuesday. Karunanidhi went to Murasoli office at Kodambakkam and offered floral tributes to the statue of Maran. Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran, senior State ministers including K Anbazhagan, Arcot N Veeraswamy, Durai Murugan and Parithi Ellamvazhuthi also paid homage to their late leader.
In New Delhi, Vice-President Hamid Ansari, Congress President Sonia Gandhi were among a host of leaders who paid tributes to Maran. Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, senior BJP leader L K Advani and DMK Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi paid floral tributes to the portrait of Maran at the DMK office in the premises of Parliament.
