KMK gets 7 seats from DMK

CHENNAI: Just a few minutes after AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad and Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K V Thangkabalu left Anna Arivalayam, leaders of Kongunadu Munnetra Kazhagam Best Ramaswamy and Easwaran met Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and inked a seat-sharing agreement.

The KMK got seven seats and Ramaswamy told the waiting presspersons that the party would contest on their own symbol.

Earlier in the day, the DMK allotted one seat to Muvendar Munnetra Kazhagam.

So far, the DMK has allocated 52 seats to its allies. Of the total 234 seats, there are now 182 seats to be shared by the Congress, the DMK and a couple of smaller outfits.

The discussions between the DMK anf the Congress party, which were held in the absence of four members of the Congress seat-sharing committee  Union Ministers P Chidambaram and G K Vasan, Congress spokesperson Jayanthi Natarajan and MLA K Jayakumar, lasted for 100 minutes.
