VELLORE: Passenger train services will soon be introduced on the Villupuram-Vellore section, which was converted into broad gauge recently, said K J S Naidu, railway safety commissioner, south zone.

Naidu and his team inspected the 150-km stretch of the track for three days and upon completion on Saturday, expressed hope that train services on the track would be made possible as soon the technical problems were rectified. He, however, did not elaborate on when the decision would be taken but said that the track needed no more inspection.

After completion of the broad gauge conversion work, the first level safety inspection was conducted along the track last March. Some of the problems identified at that time were rectified and the next level of inspection was scheduled to be conducted in February, but was postponed by a week.
