CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa today launched a series of measures covering different state government departments.

Jayalalithaa launched renovation of 'Namakkal Kavignar Maaligai', a 10-storeyed building accommodating various departments in the state secretariat at a cost of Rs 28 crore.

The building, which plays host to the annual conference of District Collectors and SPs chaired by the Chief Minister will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and amenities, an official release said.

Jayalalithaa laid the foundation stone for renovation works.

At a separate function, she inaugurated a building complex located inside the Government Dental College and Hospital.

With the new building in place, which will now host the Outpatient ward, the total number of persons who could be treated per day would be around 1000-1500, a release said.

Jayalalithaa inaugurated the building via video conferencing. Besides, she awarded about Rs four lakh to various personnel from the state police force who had won laurels in international and national police sports meets.
