RAMANATHAPURAM: The 19-year-old boy Calvin Millar of Pamban, who was killed in a boat capsize on May 10, has passed in the Plus Two examination by securing 832 marks.
Calvin, Millar is the last son of the couple Bhavani Raj and Gerold Mary of Pamban. The couple, besides the victim, have three daughters and a son.
Despite his busy schedule with studies, he never hesitates to help his father when he goes out to fish, during his summer vacation.
Meanwhile, he had ventured into the sea for fishing on May 10 along with four other fishermen, including his brother Ennasi on a country boat. A vessel hit the country boat when it was near Ariyaman coast. In the impact, the boat got damaged and subsequently sank. Calvin sustained severe injuries and drowned. Others in the boat, who jumped into the water, were rescued by their counterparts later.
The body of Calvin was retrieved the following day.
Meanwhile, the Plus Two results were announced on Tuesday in which the victim, who had taken the Commerce group, had secured 832 marks. His friends and relatives came to his house to convey the result.
Sadly, this compounded the grief of the family members who were seen weeping unconsolably. On seeing the family’s condition, neighbours also broke down.
Bhavani Raj, the victim’s father, told that Calvin was very active and energetic. He wanted to pursue a course in marine engineering or serve the Navy. It was a huge loss to his family and his mother Gerold Mary had not come out of the shock yet.
