The city police arrested an attendant working in the X-ray division of a private hospital on Friday for allegedly asking a 23-year-old woman to remove her clothes for taking an X-ray and also misbehaved with her.
Police said the woman, from Perumanallur in Tirupur, got admitted to the hospital in Peelamedu on Thursday night as she was suffering from a recurring headache. Based on the doctor’s instruction, she was taken to the X-ray room where the 25-year-old attendant, Sivakumar, asked the woman to strip. Believing it to be the practice to take an X-ray, the woman undressed. Later, to her horror, the attendant tried to molest her.
Hearing her shouts, the woman’s relatives rushed and saved her. Sivakumar was allegedly beaten up and handed over to Peelamedu police station. Based on a complaint, the police registered a case. Sivakumar was remanded in prison.
