Followers of Vallalar Ramalinga Adigal are upset over Hindu rituals being practiced at the Sathya Gnana Sabhai in Vadalur. They alleged that the ideologies of Vallalar are adulterated by religious practices and the administration did not take any steps to prevent it. At a rally at Vadalur two days back, hundreds of followers of Vallalar (members of Samarasa Sutha Sanmarga Sathya Sangam) from across the state registered their resentment towards the HR and CE administration of the Sathya Gnana Sabhai. They demanded the Sabhai should be brought out of the clutches of the HR and CE, as Vallalar’s ideologies were non-religious.
Speaking to Express, R Balakrishnan, president of Samarasa Sutha Sanmarga Sathya Sangam, said, “In a way, Vallalar’s ideologies fit into the frame of Hindu religion. But, Sathya Gnana Sabhai and Sathya Dharma Salai, which were established by Vallalar, are now in the ambit of HR and CE. Rituals like lighting camphor, distributing Vibudhi, and tonsuring happen here, which are completely against Vallalar’s principles. HR and CE administration of this Sabhai does not even seem to care about this. Hence, we want the Sabhai and Dharma Salai to be out of HR and CE and should be handed over to the Sangam.”
K Ganesan, secretary of the Sangam, recalled that Vallalar followers had managed to get a priest of the Sabhai moved out through a court order two years ago as he was performing poojas and distributing prasadam.
