NCC green drive sees 650 saplings planted in schools

Cadets attached to the 10th battalion of the NCC planted around 650 saplings in schools across the district on Monday as part of a greening programme.

According to battalion PRO K Raja, cadets took an oath to protect the trees they had planted. The NCC officers explained the importance of trees in helping preserve water and soil, protecting flora and fauna and preventing global warming.

Trees were planted at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Katpadi, Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Arcot, BHEL Sri Ramakrishna Higher Secondary School, Ranipet, Holy Cross Matriculation School, Sathuvachari, Ethiraj Higher Secondary School, Sathuvachari and Krishnaswamy Higher Secondary School, Vellore.

The NCC troop training was inaugurated at the Government Boys Higher Secondary at Thiruvalam on Tuesday.

Havildhar major Yuvaraj of the 10 battalion, NCC was the chief guest.
