Flying Squad Seizes Jewels worth Rs 32L

The Flying squad of the Election Department seized 1.175 kg of gold jewels worth Rs 32 lakh on Friday night.

While carrying out a routine vehicle-check at Kanagachettikulam, the squad led by Tahsildar Sivakumar detected the jewels in a Volkswagen car plying from Chennai to Puducherry. As there were no valid documents for the jewellery comprising mostly bangles, it was seized and handed over to the Kalapet police. The I-T Department was apprised.
