Four Kids of Family Drown in Dharmapuri Lake

DHARMAPURI: Four children of the same family drowned in a lake at Hosahalli village in Kariamangalam block here on Sunday evening.

While Nivedha (7) and Gurusaran (4) were the children of Murugan, a bus driver with Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, Karthick (3) and Sumithra (4) were children of Murugan’s brother Vadivel, a farmer from the same village.

According to V Ganesan, a relative of the deceased kids, the incident took place around 4 pm.

“The children went for a dip in the Hosahalli lake. When they failed to return home, Murugan searched for them. Around 5 pm, the children were found dead in the lake,” he said.

Hearing the cries of Murugan, villagers rushed to the spot and fished out the bodies which were sent to the Government Dharmapuri Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Police registered a case and are investigating.
