13 Goats Found Dead on Farmland

Express News Service

SATTUR: Thirteen goats were found dead in a farmland at Kannakudumbanpatti near here on Friday night. The owners claimed that the goats died after grazing on the poisoned agricultural land.

Sources said that Balamurugan, a resident of Manjaodaipatti village near Sattur had taken on lease the land from a person at Kannakudumbanpatti village near Sattur for agricultural purposes.

During the past few days, some villagers were taking the goats to graze on Balamurugan’s farmland. The goats were allegedly destroying the crops in the land.

In spite of several attempts by Balamurugan to prevent the goats from entering his farmland, the menace continued.

On Friday morning, Balamurugan allegedly sprinkled some poison laced food in his farmland.

Later in the day, 13 goats belonging to Marisamy, Ayyalusamy and Marimuthu of Kannakudumbanpatti were found dead in the farmland.

The owners lodged a complaint and Sattur Taluk police began investigations.
