31 CCTVs at 'Big Temple' in Thanjavur

Archaeological Survey of India has installed 31 Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) cameras at the world famous Thanjavur 'big temple' to beef up security.

THANJAVUR: Archaeological Survey of India has installed 31 Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) cameras at the world famous Thanjavur 'big temple' to beef up security.

The cameras have become operational since yesterday at the World Heritage Monument, officials said.

They said the cameras have been fixed at strategic locations, including the first entrance built during the Maratha rule and would operate round the clock.

Besides a control room set up at the temple premises, live images from the cameras would also be made available at the ASI Chennai Circle Office, they said.
