PUDUCHERRY: AIADMK Legislator A Anbazhagan on Monday demanded a judicial probe into the alleged certificate scam to get admissions in medical and engineering courses through the Centralised Admission Committee (Centac) of the government.
Making a special mention during Zero Hour in the Territorial Assembly, Anbazhagan said an inquiry was conducted after he brought to the notice of the House that a girl from Tamil Nadu got admission into MBBS course under government quota here by producing a fake residential certificate.
The scam was going on for several years, he said, adding that fake certificates were being produced to get admission under sports quota as well.
He alleged that another woman candidate belonging to a Forward Caste had got admission in the OBC category by producing a fake certificate.
He said fake certificates were also being issued for an unfamiliar sports ‘Attiya Pattiya’ to ineligible candidates and said that the hearing-impaired candidates and the polio-hit had qualified for admission under the category. He further alleged the involvement of some government officials in the scam and said the wards of government officials obtained admission to professional colleges under Centac by producing fake certificates.
Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition V Vaithilingam demanded stringent action from the government to end the menace of banned lottery tickets, gutka.
