Plea to Set up Taluk Office at Pernambut

VELLORE: The Pernambut Consumer welfare Protection Society urged the State government to create a taluk with headquarters at Pernambut by bifurcating the existing Gudiyattam taluk.

In a memorandum submitted to the CM, O Panneerselvam, the Society president T Basheeruddin while complimenting the State government for creating a new taluk at Chetput in Tiruvannamalai district, said that a similar taluk was required for Pernambut. He said the existing Gudiyattam taluk had a population of over 4 lakh and residents in and around Pernambut town had to travel more than 20 km to reach the taluk office in Gudiyattam.
