COIMBATORE: The Tamil Nadu Government College Teachers’ Association (TNGCTA) has urged the Higher Education Department to conduct the general transfer counselling immediately.

There are around 4,000 teachers in 81 government arts and science colleges across the State and the general transfer counselling is normally held at the end of July or the first week of August, association president R Venkatachalam told Express.

“Usually, 400-500 teachers take part in the counselling, which lasts three days. This year, the Directorate of Collegiate Education is yet to make an announcement,” he added.

“When we made a representation to the officials, they said the schedule would be announced after the appointment of over 1,000 teachers, newly recruited through the Teachers Recruitment Board. These appointments were made in July, but no announcement has been made,” he said.
