Unmarried Woman Raped by Dad of Two

The accused invited her to his house when his wife and children were not at home

VELLORE: A father of two was arrested by the Gudiyattam All Women Police Station for allegedly raping an unmarried woman in his house on Saturday evening here.

Police said that the accused, G Pandiyan (25), is a resident of Kurunji Nagar in town. He works as a driver in the locality and has a family comprising a wife and two kids.

The incident occurred when the man invited the victim to his house to fetch ‘Kalani thaneer’ (water which is used to feed cattle).

The accused was aware that her parents were away and with his own wife and children not present in the house, he took advantage of the situation and committed the offence. He reportedly assaulted the 29-year-old woman before forcing himself on her.

The woman, who returned home in a semi-conscious state after being subjected to the torturous ordeal fainted as soon as she reached home.

When her parents returned home after some time, they discovered their daughter lying in an unconscious state and took her to the Gudiyattam government hospital, with the help of neighbours.

On regaining her consciousness, she narrated the entire incident to them. The victim’s parents then lodged a complaint leading to the arrest of the accused. He was later remanded. A case  under section 376 and 506 (ii) of Indian Penal Code was filed against him.
