TIRUCHY: A young girl committed suicide by jumping in front of a train on her betrothal day on the outskirts of City on Sunday, since her parents were opposed to her love-affair with a local youth.Police said that the girl, Vinodhini (23), daughter of Murugesan of Mutharasanallur, was working in a lab of a private hospital in Musiri.
Vinodhini’s marriage was scheduled on January 25. However, she was reluctant and depressed ever since the marriage talks began. Meanwhile, the betrothal was to take place on Sunday in Vinodhini’s house.
However, Vinodhini was nowhere to be found from Sunday morning. Her parents and relatives searched for her, but in vain. Later, her body was found near the railway tracks. Railway police sent the body to Tiruchy GH for an autopsy. Inquiries revealed that Vinodhini was in love with another youth and the parents opposed it, because of which she took the extreme step.
