CHENNAI: The State Health Secretary was on Thursday directed by the Madras High Court to instruct the appropriate authority to verify the credentials of five private Siddha doctors practicing in Chennai, Tiruvallur and Coimbatore districts.

First bench of Chief Justice SK Kaul and Justice MM Sundresh gave a direction to this effect while disposing of a PIL from S Balachandran of Vadapalani. The petitioner, who is the secretary of Makkal Sakthi, said he received a number of complaints against K Sakthi Rajarajan (Pammal), Sed Sathar (Royapettah), D Shanmugam (Periyakuppam in Tiruvallur district), P Jayakumar (Kovaipudur in Coimbatore) and N Selvaraj (Saligramam). The charge against them was that they were not qualified persons to practice Siddha. He filed the petition for a direction to the government to verify the credentials of these private doctors.
