MADURAI: In a move to woo Dalits, the Scheduled Caste (SC) wing of the BJP, in all probability, will have party’s national president Amit Shah tour the caste-sensitive southern districts of Tamil Nadu where incidents of atrocities against them have escalated in the recent past.

R G Raj Singh, BJP’s Tamil Nadu SC wing secretary, said conflicts between caste Hindus  and Dalits have witnessed an increase in state’s southern part during the last one year resulting in loss of lives and property to the Dalits. “We strongly believe only our Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party national president Amit Shah can put an end to such conflicts and help uplift the social and economic status od Dalits,” Raj Singh told Express.

He said Shah is likely to visit Madurai shortly and they have planned to take him on a tour to villages where Dalits are still facing discrimination.
