I Haven't Ruled Out a Career in Politics: Actor Vadivelu

CHENNAI: Actor Vadivelu, who will next be seen in Tamil comedy "Eli", says he's still interested in a career in politics and may return to it sooner or later.

"There's ample time for 2016 assembly elections and anything could happen before that. I haven't ruled out a career in politics yet," Vadivelu told IANS.

In 2011, Vadivelu campaigned for the DMK party in the assembly elections. When the party fared poorly, he was forced to stay out of the industry for a few years.

"Whatever happened in the past was a learning experience. I should've been a little cautious," he said.

In 2014, he made a comeback with period-drama "Thenali Raman".

Vadivelu says he is interested in working in a political comedy.

"I'm planning to do a film in which I play a chief minister. It'll be an out-and-out political satire," he said.

In "Eli", he plays a spy, and the story is set in the 1960s.

"It's about a spy who infiltrates a criminal gang. I had so much fun working in this film," he added.

Directed by Yuvaraj Dhayalan, "Eli" features Sada in the lead role.
