COIMBATORE:The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Thursday released the much-awaited class X results on its website. Many students from the district have managed to achieve 10 out of 10 CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average).

The pass percentage of class X students is generally high, as a continuous and comprehensive evaluation (CCE) education system is being followed in CBSE schools, said Savithri T Rajan, principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV).

Of the 170 students who appeared from KV Coimbatore, 166 passed, with a pass percentage of 98. Twelve students managed to get 10 out of 10 CGPA. From KV Sulur, all 148 students passed. Besides, 17 students attained 10 out of 10 CGPA.

All over the state, 33,485 students appeared for the examination from 431 CBSE schools of which, 33,405 passed (99.76 %) and 80 were put under EIOP (Eligible for Improvement Of Performance) category. A student who scores a CGPA of more than 5.6 is declared qualified in the exam.

Coimbatore Sahodaya Schools Complex president K Navamani said that since last year, online valuation is being followed by CBSE, wherein the answerscripts are scanned and uploaded on the website and teachers evaluate them online. “According to the feedback from students, the mathematics paper this year was tough,” she added.

Meanwhile, students faced some difficulty in accessing the results as the CBSE website was down for a while, immediately after the results were declared.

A section of students usually shift to the state board after completing class X. Commenting on this, KV Sulur principal A Marappan said, “Around 30 per cent shift from CBSE to state board after class X. Students who want to pursue their higher education in other states or Central government institutions like the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) or National Institute of Technology (NIT), are best advised to continue their plus-one and plus-two education under CBSE. Those who are interested in entering engineering and medical colleges in the state, can switch to state board,” he opined.
