Express News Service

PUDUCHERRY: Tamil Nadu Minister for Commercial Taxes and Registration A C Sampath exhorted AIADMK cadre here to strive hard to bring back AIADMK rule in 2016.

Addressing a public meeting, on Monday night, in connection with the foundation day of the party, Sampath said the AIADMK governed Puducherry in 1974 and 1977. For the last 40 years, either the Congress or the DMK  or the N R Congress held the reins of power  in the Union Territory, he added.

He alleged that there was no progress, when it came to infrastructure development, rural development, tourism development, provision of basic amenities or setting up of new industries, under the rule of these three parties.

Stressing that Puducherry people are yearning for a change, the minister exuded confidence that the AIADMK would return to power with 25 seats in the 30-member Assembly, if it contested alone. he also added that the DMK has vanished from Puducherry and Tamil Nadu.

In a no-holds barred attack on Chief Minister Rangasamy, the minister called his reign the ‘dark period’ in the history of Puducherry. Stressing that he held the post of the Chief Minister for a the longest period both under the Congress rule and the AINRC, Sampath alleged that no development took place under him as he is short on planning and poor in governing.

The minister further took a dig at Rangasamy by saying that he is not ven able to keep his MLA flock together.

He wondered why Rangasamy never took any effort to provide free mixies and grinders, as promised in the election manifesto.
