Ponraj Launches Abdul Kalam VIP, To Go Solo

MADURAI: V Ponraj, scientific adviser to late President APJ Abdul Kalam, launched Abdul Kalam Vision India Party (VIP) at Pei Karumbu in Rameswaram on Sunday.  Announcing the name and releasing the party flag at a function in Kalam’s memorial in Rameswaram, he said the party would contest from all the 234 assembly constituencies in TN in the coming 2016 assembly elections to give a corruption-free government in the state.

“The party’s objective is to take Kalam’s vision closer to the student community. It aims at enhancing social and education statuses of the poor and protect agriculture,” Ponraj said, adding he would reach out to the younger generation to achieve Kalam’s dream of making India a superpower by 2020.

He urged the aspirants to register their names in the party’s website and said they would be sensitised on the party’s principles after which the deserving would be fielded as its candidates in the polls. Ruling out alliance with any other outfit, Ponraj, who is presently the party’s adviser, would be announced as its head at a conference in Chennai scheduled for next month.
