Assembly condoles death of AIADMK MLA, five former members

Tamil Nadu Assembly on Friday condoled the death of AIADMK MLA SM Seenivel, elected from Tiruparankundram Assembly constituency and five former members of the House.

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Assembly on Friday condoled the death of AIADMK MLA SM Seenivel, elected from Tiruparankundram Assembly constituency and five former members of the House.  Seenivel died on May 25 just a couple of hours ahead of the newly elected members of the 15th Assembly were about to take the oath.  

Speaker P Dhanapal read out a resolution condoling the death of Seenivel while he read out obituary references for five former members - S Mani (Pongalur), DR Rajaram Naidu (Thalli), D Selvaraj (Udumalpet), NS Palanisami (Kinathukadavu) and N Nachimuthu Gounder (Oddanchathiram). 

The members observed silence for two minutes as a mark of respect for the late members. After this, the Speaker adjourned the proceedings of the House without transacting any business as a mark of respect for the late members. 

The House will meet on June 20 and the session will go on till June 23.  Discussion on the motion of thanks for the Governor's address will be taking place on June 20, 21 and 22 and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa will be replying to the discussions on June 23.
