Amma Will Clean Sweep TN Polls, Claims AIADMK

AIADMK said CM Jaya would register a clean sweep in the upcoming assembly elections as the schemes launched by her govt benefitted the people.

CHENNAI: Expressing confidence of achieving a splendid victory in the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly polls, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) on Friday said Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa would register a clean sweep this time as the schemes launched by her government has benefitted the people of the state.

“The procedure starts in April, voting is on May 16 and counting on 19. We are happy because we are very sure our honorable Chief Minister will register a great victory,” AIADMK spokesperson C.R. Saraswathi told ANI.

“We have already started our preparations, I am happy to say that this party is a one leadership party… whatever Amma says we do. We have started campaigning, we are meeting people. People say they will vote only for Amma, all the schemes have reached the people. Amma will win all 234 seats,” she added.

The Election Commission on Friday announced the schedule for the assembly polls to be held in the four states of Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala, Assam and union territory Puducherry.

In Tamil Nadu, voting to elect the new government in the state would be held in a single phase on May 16.

There are 234 assembly constituencies and 39 Lok Sabha constituencies. The state has conducted 14 assembly elections and 15 Lok Sabha elections since independence.

The last assembly election took place in April 2011, which resulted in AIADMK and its allies winning.
